I shoot NBA & WNBA games (indoors without flash) and use a pair of Nikon D70′s, currently replaced by the D80. Here are some shots taken at the recent WNBA Playoffs with my 6mp camera, using a Nikon 18-200mm VR & a Nikon 75-300mm zoom. I used ISO 1600 with the lenses wide open with the maximum shutterspeed to capture the action. The images were cropped and resized before uploading.

And here are some more, taken from high in the stands of the stadium at the recent Cal vs. Tennessee game. I was using a Nikon D50 (recently replaced by the D40) and shooting with my 18-200mm VR lens. ISO settings ranged from 400-1600 as the light dimmed that evening. Photos were also cropped and resized before uploading.

I love my Nikons and highly recommend them. Remember, my cameras are ‘old and outdated’ in the minds of many. But I guess they do pretty well, right?

For a novice, I’d recommend the Nikon D40, D40x, or D80, dependent upon your budget. Then look at the great new 70-300mm VR lens. The VR (vibration reduction) feature virtually eliminates the need for a tripod!

What are the top Digital cameras?
I had a kodak 633 and it broke and it took blurry pictures and was really slow, so this time I want to get a good one. What are the best brands out there? Or specific models? I’m willing to spend up to $400. Thanks guys

Are there any Canon digital cameras that offer the beauty shop application that samsung has?
I really want to get a canon, but I also really want the beauty shop application that makes the skin look really good. Samsung has some amazing cameras that really make your picture perfect, but i don’t want a samsung.

Please help me find a canon camera with a similar application.

You asked about a digital SLR camera and that is a good choice. I recommend something in the Nikon or Canon digital series. They are all good, high quality, and flexible cameras. There are other good quality interchangable lens digital SLR’s, but the two I mentioned have a great variety of lenses and accessories available from many other sources than just from Canon and Nikon. This gives you a good price range in most of the lenses and accessories you might eventually want to add. The new Canon and Nikon Digital SLR cameras
start at around $700 and go up from there. If that is too pricy, you might consider buying something used. eBay has always proven to be a good and reliable source for used items and I have bought many photo items there with excellent results.

Best Digital p&s cameras in 2010?
I’m looking into getting a new digital camera within the next month or so. I’ve been doing some research online for the cameras that are out there now. I’m looking for point and shoot camera not a dslr. I would like it to have around a 10x optical zoom. I would also like it to be able to fit in a coat or paints pocket if needed. I’ve been looking closely at the canon sx210 but would like any other suggestions or opinions that anyone has on other cameras.

How do you organize and store your digital camera photos?
I’m trying to figure out a way to backup and keep all my digital camera photos. Do you store them on your computer and then keep them on CD’s, upload them to a website, etc? I’m trying to figure out best and safest way to keep them. I also print them out sometime online. What do you all think is best?
